Colonnades is also much improved now, and much more pleasant than Marion.

Marion is overcrowded and beginning to look a little dull and dated compared to other centres now.

Unfortunately not, but I'll see if I can find out more.
Thanks Will :)

Crawf, the $280m bill probably will only cover the costs of constructing the new part of the mall. It would cost a lot more to revamp the entire shopping mall. I think your standards are too high from what you must expect of shopping malls. Marion is relatively new and undergoes regular maintenance to keep it up to scratch, I think we in Australia are quite lucky to have our metropolitan shopping malls built and maintained to the standards that they are compared to other countries.

This is getting completely off topic, but may I just say the standards of shopping centres in some other countries (UK, parts of Asia, parts of USA) are far higher than those we find here.

I even suspect the same can be said of some shopping centres interstate in Australia.

Frankly many malls around the world make Westfield Marion look absolutely terrible!

Excellent to see so much mid-density development going on. If only it were being replicated in other appropriate areas around Adelaide.

Will we see something over 5 levels built in Mawson Lakes?

It would be good if something around 10 levels was built there

I doubt it crawf, I would most certainly imagine that there'd be height limits there, due its relative proximity to Parafield Airport. The landing alignment runs nearly directly over the township I believe. And I would also believe that the guys over at RAAF Base would be a bit suss about having 10+ floor towers near thier base. Anyone clarify on this?

You could be right about Parafield Airport, though the RAAF base is nowhere near Mawson Lakes

Thanks for that Will. Even when I was last there, many of those buildings were complete or in various stages of construction.

I'd like to add some of those to the projects map, but obviously three levels is not that significant. Do you think five levels is a good cut off?

I think 10, or maybe 7 or 8. 5 is definitely insignificant.
