Key announcements at the launch for the 10th anniversary of the V8 Supercar event to be held from February 21-24 included:

FREE public transport over the weekend for event ticketholders.

AN AGREEMENT with Carbon Planet to conduct a greenhouse emissions audit on the event to move towards a carbon neutral rating.

A FOUR-DAY concert program which will include acts such as Powderfinger, Sneaky Sound System, Shannon Noll and Santana.

THE largest exhibition of some of the world's most exotic and expensive sports cars ever seen in Australia.

The exhibition – called Murray Walker's Extreme Machines – is presented with the RAA in conjunction with The Advertiser, Sunday Mail and AdelaideNow.

The Advertiser will soon launch a competition where 24 readers will be able to win a hot lap in one of the cars - which include a Pagani Zonda, a Ferrari 599 and a Bugati Veyron.

Twelve rides will be given away in Decmeber, while the remaining 12 rides will be up for grabs in February.

Readers will need to collect two halves of a code-word each day – one half will feature in The Advertiser or Sunday Mail and the other half on the RAA Insurance website .

Once readers collect the pair of codewords they can enter them on AdelaideNow to see if they’ve won a hot lap in one of the Extreme Machines.
The whole article and a clip of todays impressive launch (excluding Keven Foley :ohno:)

---------------

Just watched a thing on TT, showing the new promo and fark it looks good. It shows a whole heap of people pulling a rope along Adelaides most iconic areas such as Victoria Park (where the Clipsal 500 is located), Rundle Street, Elder Park, Convention Centre, Lights Vision etc... which ends up exploding a giant popper which unleashes a huge party - really does look good, probably the best clipsal add so far.

Its set to be the biggest party Adelaide has ever seen because of its 10th birthday - Love that time of year with the Tour Down Under, Clipsal 500, Arts Festival, Adelaide Cup, Adelaide Fringe Festival - great vibe around the city during that time

I just had a look at the clipsal 500 website. They have some recent news on there regarding next
years event. The event will take place on March 19,20,21,22 2009. There's no info
on whether they are planning to use the old GP circuit or not - so I suspect that it's not going to
happen.

There's a fair bit of info on there regarding the new grandstand. Ticket sales are well
ahead of this time last year. They'll crack the 300,000 mark next year you would think.

I hope it doesn't clash with the Fringe grand opening

thank god no mr crawf. The Fringe is going from the 27th Feb (i think) to 22nd March, and they are bringing back the opening parade through the East End streets which they say will be bigger than ever, with a special theme. Got an email the other day, which included that submissions for next years Fringe poster is now open. Anyone on here good with poster design? we could send in a S-A submission for a laugh

I was thinking of having Adelaide's 6 tallest or best towers, putting them next to each other and having them spell out each letter of the word "Fringe" with their lit windows.
