It's a pity they did lot get that two floor box next to the carpark southern edge facing Pulteny St. Woould have made an impressive expanse right across for the hotel.

And yes, a green square would make a masive difference to the area - especially attractive to tourists.

When the cinema was butted up against the adjacent building they managed to tag it... you can also see their handy work on some of the buildings along rundle street (same tag and all KovenJules).

Are they ever going to remove that huge piece of graffiti?

Also, am I the only one who wants to see that big messy tree on the intersection (visible at the bottom-right of the last picture) removed? Would open up the are much more without it, plus would provide some better views of the new buildings from the street.

Yes, that tree is great leave it alone. However that building next to the hotel should be demolished and something significant
built in its place.

The building next door to the Griff is being leased by the hotel. They are going to knock some internal walls out and expand their dining and functions into the adjacent place. Will greatly expand the hotel and be a very good venue for the square.

Why remove it when it will be hidden in a matter of months by an expansive wall of prefab concrete...

Besides it adds character to my old home.

What about the building next to the new hotel on Pultney? Anything proposed for this site. I hope so or else once again we have another one of the big blank concrete walls.

There is no chance that the tree will be removed. I worked in tree pruning all over Adelaide for a number of years. I even did work inside government house. That tree is a Moreton Bay Fig and will almost certainly be listed as a significant tree. I have seen large trees of varying types rejected by councils for removal in local suburban backyards usually because of their size and age. There are only certain exceptions such as significant developments or people sub-dividing their backyards in order to build more dwellings. I really can't see anything being built on that corner for a while, if ever. That tree will remain there until it dies of natural causes.

Cheers, Brian

From memory there is also an ugly conifer diagonally across the intersection from the tree you mention. It's leaning at about 20degrees. Should be removed - so unattractive!
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

How big is it?
Maybe i can shape it into a Bonsai. Conifer's are great for these. At least it would look better

You can't really tell from this pikkie, but it leans quite substantially towards the east...

I know i'm off subject here guys, but at least the above pikkie includes the crane in action!

Noticed today when I walked past the old hunting ground that the gantry has gone up on York Street. Looks absolutely awful!
Thankfully I don't live around there anymore.
When are the crane(s) supposed to be installed?
The addition of the gantry makes me suspect that we will see them go in soon.

Some new info from James Hines :) And pics too.
Thought you might be interested in the attached photos showing progress over on the Academy Site.

Preparation for a pending installation of the Residential crane has commenced, and the date for install of the Hotel crane is looking like October now, as opposed to November.

Cheers

James.
