Do you use public transport?

#1 Post by Somebody » Fri Jan 23, 2009 4:25 pm

I've done one like this for SkyscraperCity, now time for one here. The last option is the 'candy' one.

If this is anything like Adelaide's actual patronage, the second will be the most commonly used option of the 'Yes' ones. Generally bus is the only mode with any decent services (other than the tram) ;)

I too, alongside Omi, am a regular user of these highly functional modes of transport. :D

If the option existed, I would have clicked 'occasionally'- I go to uni at Magill campus (10 mins away), work at Coles Firle (15 mins away) and as such do not require PT. I use it when I want to get into the city.

i'm an occasional train/bus user - work from home most the time...
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

I use PT to get everywhere, since I don't have a car at the moment. It's served me well so far...

Rail, bus and tram while in Adelaide - or walk. Will not use the car if I can avoid it. Heavily disappointed by the current rail system, but very impressed by the tram system - hope it expands further than is planned - esp. in inner suburbs where I believe they have a distinct advantage.

I never used public transport while in Adelaide, except when I had to get my car repaired and it was in the shed for a week. Put simply Adelaide is a breeze to drive around, and public transport doesn't have much benefits other than saving the planet and perhaps reducing your fuel bill. Anyhow taking the bus to West Lakes from Highbury using the O'bahn for work, made a 30 minute trip into 1 hour and 30 minute trip. Though I must say the time it took to get into the CBD using the Obahn is good!

However in Melbourne, I have been using public transport a lot! You'd have to be insane at times to use a car around the CBD area and surrounding suburbs in the day. While I do use my car, I must say my stress levels go through the roof. I can't stand 3 light changes and still being bogged down in city traffic. So I use my legs and public transport.
